Prince Wrote A Song Inspired By A ‘Purple Rain’ Meme

Prince both loves the Internet, and hates it. Cranky Prince is still notoriously ornery when it comes to other artists covering his songs and uploading them to YouTube, but Pancake Prince has embraced his Chappelle’s Show “appearance,” and even wrote a song inspired by a meme.

Prince explained that the next song, “This Could Be Us,” was inspired by a meme of him and Apollonia riding on a motorcycle, clearly a scene taken from the 1984 movie Purple Rain. It’s a joyful ballad with some ecstatic Prince vocalizing. (Via)

I can’t think of anything more delightful than Prince Google’ing, looking for inspiration for new songs. He’s already filed a lawsuit against everyone who used the word “Orgasm” without his permission.
