Modern Family returns for another season of simple misunderstandings and extravagant vacations tonight, but that’s the last thing on the mind of one of the show’s stars, Sarah Hyland. She’s been busy successfully filing a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend who threatened to kill her.
According to TMZ, the Modern Family actress alleges in court documents that during an argument in May, [ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop]shoved her against a car, choked her, and threatened her life – an incident that supposedly left Hyland with injuries to her voice.
During another alleged incident, Hyland reportedly sought the aid of Modern Family costar Julie Bowen, who purportedly intervened at Hyland’s home in order to help “peacefully end the relationship,” the site reports. The actress also claims that Prokop threatened the safety of her dog, and threatened to set her house on fire. (Via)
Hyland and Prokop began dating five years ago, after meeting during an audition for High School Musical 3: Senior Year. He also appeared in the “Disneyland” episode of Modern Family as Ethan, some chump who Haley wisely dumped. He didn’t deserve her. He doesn’t even deserve Manny.
